Trading & Distribution ERP in Saudi Arabia

Trading margin is thin and moves with landed cost and pricing discipline. Both need to be visible per transaction, not estimated at month-end.

  • Real margin per customer
  • Less capital tied up in stock
  • Faster order to delivery
  • Supplier terms you can prove
Trading & Distribution ERP in Saudi Arabia

What we hear before a rollout

The same four problems come up in almost every conversation in this sector.

Landed cost is estimated

Freight, duty and clearing are booked to expense, so item cost and true margin are never right.

Branches reorder blind

In-transit stock is invisible, so the same item is bought twice.

Pricing is negotiated per call

Contract prices live in someone's head or an old spreadsheet.

Supplier performance is anecdotal

Late or short deliveries are remembered, not recorded, so renewals lose leverage.

How ERP supports trading & distribution

Multi-warehouse stock

Locations, transfers and in-transit visibility.

Stock by warehouse and location, with transfers and in-transit visible before someone reorders.

Landed costing

Freight, duty and clearing allocated to item cost.

Freight, duty and clearing are allocated to item cost, so margin reflects what stock really cost.

Price lists

Customer tiers, contract pricing and approval on exceptions.

Customer tiers and contract prices apply automatically, with approvals on any exception.

Supplier performance

Lead time, price and quality history per supplier.

Lead time, price and quality history build against each supplier for contract renewal.

Batch & expiry

Traceability and FEFO picking where it matters.

Batch, serial and expiry tracking with FEFO picking enforced at the pick list.

Margin reporting

Real margin per item, customer and salesperson.

Margin is reportable per item, customer and salesperson rather than at company level only.

How we implement it

Trading ERP in practice: margin per container and per customer

Saudi trading companies import through Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh dry port, hold stock in two or three warehouses, sell through a sales team, van routes, showrooms and increasingly online, and extend credit to customers who pay late. The ERP has to allocate landed cost per shipment onto the item, apply price lists by customer group, enforce credit limits at order, track stock by warehouse with batches and expiry, and report margin by item, customer, salesperson and branch.

We implement Odoo for traders who need multi-warehouse operations, barcode, replenishment, van sales and accounting on one platform; ERPNext for traders who want the same without per-user licences for a large sales and warehouse team; and Zoho Inventory, Books and CRM for smaller traders who want a connected cloud suite. All three handle e-invoicing, Arabic item masters and bilingual documents.

Migration brings items, customers, suppliers, balances and open orders from the old system with reconciliation; go-live is timed to a month-end; van sales and mobile order capture follow once the warehouse is stable.
